THE BIG LIFT 2013
The team helped the local-preschool contact some books as well as painting a. shed in record breaking time for the local Lion's Club. Later, the team were treated by the town with an amazing performance by the local poet.
After a delicious combined dinner with Blue Bus, Lifters bonded over a cold night before painting and tidying the local playground in the following morning.
Here, our Lifters deconstructed a fence by smashing it together! This was followed by an activity that involved painting countless buildings. Everyone worked tremendously fast to make sure every last drop of paint made it to the walls on time!
For our service project, half of the group helped clean windows and do general maintenance at the local retirement village, while the other half assisted with tree planting at a nearby conservation site.
After bonding with The Local Rotary and Pony Club, we helped the town by doing maintenance on the stables and clearing out metal and junk from the dressage yard.
After a fierce Big Lift Olympics on the night of our arrival, the following morning, we helped give some old fences, sheds and benches new life by giving them a fresh coat of paint. We were then treated to a shearing demonstration by a local shearer!
The team broke into smaller teams to help the town out with a general clean-up in multiple locations - nursing home, golf courses and showgrounds!
At Tenterfield, more physically-inclined jobs awaited us, as we channeled our inner Hulks to demolish old stables and sheds.
Our Lifters were sent racing across Brisbane as they took part in the Bigmazing Race. Them we per tradition, we took to the streets to share the love by performing Random Acts of Kindness.
After we witnessed the musical talent of our Lifters as they took to the stage for the finale of Bus Idol, we then all had the opportunity to reflect upon our Big Lift journey with heartfelt and emotional activities.
