The Big Lift in 2025

#PayingItForward, always.

2025 truly was the year of growth for The Big Lift. We had the privilege of volunteering in four towns that have welcomed us before and excitingly volunteered in twelve new towns. We also collaborated with twelve university societies across our social and volunteering events, growing the TBL community at UTS. We are also proud to have been recognised as a winner of the Sustainability, Social Good and EDI Award by ActivateUTS.

On the Winter Trip, we took 71 students from UTS to Melbourne, volunteering in nine regional towns along the way. This trip was truly special by the fact that we reached the 100th unique town we have volunteered in. Despite the uniqueness of the communities and people we visit in each town, their hospitality, warmth and passion are found in all. We feel so grateful not just to volunteer in the towns we visit, but to truly become a part of their community.

A Promising 2026

We hope to use 2025 as a benchmark to strive further and break new grounds this year. In 2026, we aim to delve more into the rural communities of Australia and build lasting, long term relationships with the towns that we visit.
